Religious Leader of Islam or or that person who leads the congregational prayers in Masjid. This word also represents the special Martaba of the Sons of Hazrat Ali Alaihe Salaam and Hazrat Fatimah Tuz Zahra Salamun Alaiha and theirs sons onwards up to Hazrat Imaam Muhamamd al Mehdi Alaihe Salaam. Plural is Aaema. Word Imaam is also used for Saints with great achievements and services for Islam and Tasawwuf like Imaam Bukhari Imaam Abu Hanifa Koofi Imaam Maalik Imaam Ghazali Rahmatuallah Alaihim and others.
